SSI has a responsibility to cooperate and work with all the Districts

The Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement Chapter 12 outlines how governments will consult and work with the Sahtu Dene and Metis in the Sahtu Region. The Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated has been successful in achieving a Memorandum of Understanding with the GNWT from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2012. There was a business policy developed and once the policy was implemented and communicated to all parties, meetings were held with the SSI board of directors and others.

SSI has a responsibility to cooperate and work with all the Districts, Land Corporations and First Nation groups on their request for economic self-sufficiency. The SSI is engaged with INAC on all aspects of the Economic Measures Chapter.
